The Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS with its naturally aspirated four-liter, six-cylinder flat engine producing 368 kW / 500 hp is already designed as a fast companion for racetrack driving straight from the factory.
German automotive refinement specialist FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE further enhances the racing look of this mid-engine sports car with tailor-made exposed-carbon aerodynamics components. What is more: the sophisticated shapes of the spoiler elements for the front and rear also further optimize the aerodynamics.
FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE developed a stainless sports exhaust system for the Porsche’s high-revving engine. It comes in various versions, the most exclusive of which optionally includes the FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE rear muffler with integral thermal insulation made from 999 fine gold plating.
FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE is a business division of Friedrich Motorsport, which specializes in the refinement of exclusive automobiles. The company is based in Lichtenfels in the German state of Bavaria and was founded by Dirk Friedrich in 1992. Over the course of the more than three decades since, the company has evolved into a renowned developer and manufacturer of sports exhaust systems and carbon components. The company currently has 34 employees at two locations.
The FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE designers and model makers have developed custom aerodynamic-enhancement components for the bodywork of the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS, which is strongly geared towards motor racing. They are laminated from carbon fiber in the in-house production facilities and then “baked” in the autoclave under pressure. This complex production process ensures an optimal combination of maximum strength and lightweight construction. All exposed-carbon components are finished with a high-gloss clear coat for that full-blooded racing look. However, they can of course also be painted in vehicle or contrasting color. In order to make the front of the two-seater look even more aggressive and further increase front-axle downforce, the front bumper can be upgraded with the three-piece FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE front spoiler, which juts out farther, and the two “canards” each for the sides of the front fascia. The carbon covers for the large side air intakes in the front fascia in concert with custom air deflectors optimize the airflow to the radiators and front brakes. The FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE carbon trim for the air outlet in the top of the bumper is available to round out the motor racing looks. The air outlets in the top of the front bumpers also can be enhanced with elements made from exposed carbon. The FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE rocker panels were developed to create an optimal aerodynamic transition between the front and rear wheel arches. They also give the sports car a lower and sleeker visual stance. The FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE exposed-carbon covers for the air intakes in the quarter panels accentuate the racing looks and optimize the supply of fresh air to the engine. Carbon trim pieces for the triangles at the front side windows are the visual icing on the cake. The view of the GT4 RS from the rear is dominated by the rear wing attached to the two “goosenecks.’ The FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE designers developed two larger side pieces for this tailplane – made from carbon, of course – plus a spoiler attachment for the rear edge of the wing profile. These measures optimize the directional stability at high speeds and produce more downforce than the wing does in production configuration. In addition, the company designed the FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE carbon diffuser with a total of eight vertical fins. This centrally positioned insert perfectly showcases the two 100-millimeter tailpipes of the FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE sports exhaust system. Matching carbon components that attach to the left and right of the diffuser are available, which create the transition from the diffuser to the rear wheel arches. The complete FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE body kit sells for 29,927 euros. All components are also available separately. In order to highlight the acoustic qualities of the high-revving six-cylinder, four-valve engine even more, FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE offers precision-tuned sports exhaust systems that come with EC type approval. The product range for the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS starts with a stainless sports rear muffler that sells for 3,598 euros. Like all FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE systems, it can be combined with different tailpipe variants with or without optional exposed-carbon trim. All systems feature integrated actively controlled butterfly valves that enable drivers to change the exhaust note between subtle and extremely sporty for racetrack driving. FRIEDRICH PERFORMANCE also offers the option of ordering the muffler with integral thermal insulation that significantly reduces heat radiation and optimizes the engine’s temperature control. For particular high efficiency and an especially extravagant appearance, it can be ordered with 999 fine gold plating, which is also available for the tailpipes.
