Maserati says the coupe has a top speed of 320 kph (200 mph) and goes 0 to 100 kph (62 mph) in 2.7 seconds. That beats the Porsche Taycan Turbo S, which reaches 100 kph in 2.8 seconds in “launch mode.” The Tesla Model S Plaid, however, leads the way at a little more than 2 seconds.
Maserati says the GranTurismo Folgore’s rapid acceleration is “repeatable” with no significant performance degradation.
The coupe gets its power from at 92.5-kilowatt-hour battery pack, 83 kWh is usable, and three electric motors — one on the front axle and one each for the rear wheels. Each motor has peak power of 380 kW (510 hp). Estimated range is 450 km.
As a result, the GranTurismo Folgore has the total “installed power” of more than 1,183 hp, while the maximum available power from the wheels is 749 hp, with maximum torque of 450 newton meters.
Maserati chose the low-volume new GranTurismo model family to start its conversion into an electric-only brand. The EV variant adds Folgore (Italian for lightning) to its name. That word will be used on all of Maserati full-electric models in the future).
The coupe will arrive in the second quarter 2023, roughly three months after the combustion-powered versions of the coupe, which will launch in early 2023 equipped with the company’s 3.0-liter V-6 Nettuno gasoline engine.
