With talented simulator drivers from Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and Cyprus competing to claim their spots in the regional qualifiers
The national qualifiers of the Toyota GAZOO Racing MENA ESPORTS CUP – which is officially sponsored by Toyota Motor Corporation, represented by Toyota GAZOO Racing, to keep pace with the evolving global esports and virtual car racing landscape – is kicking off today, with avid simulator drivers from Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and Cyprus competing to claim their spots in the regional qualifiers scheduled to take place between 6 and 8 October in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
Following the remarkable success of the first edition of the Toyota GAZOO Racing MENA ESPORTS CUP last year, the championship now returns with an even wider range of participants and a more advanced structure comprising national qualifier rounds that present everyone with a fair chance to showcase their talents, win and represent their countries during the finals.
Jordan is signaling the start of the national qualifiers on Thursday 28, followed by Egypt on Friday 29, Lebanon on Saturday 30 and Cyprus on Sunday 31 July. The top 12 drivers from each country will be given a 10-minute freestyle rehearsal to familiarize themselves with the track and get into the spirit of the competition. After that, the drivers will be given a 7-minute prep rehearsal that will determine the start line order of the Sprint Race, consisting of eight laps around the renowned Japanese Fuji Speedway track, which will decide the start line order of the final Feature Race.
Before the final race, competition will be easing for five minutes of rehearsals, after which the drivers will return for 12 laps around the 5.999km track, with the fastest two to cross the finish line winning first and second places of the national qualifiers. Both will be directly moving on to the finals, with the third place winner becoming first reserve in case the first or second place winners are unable to show up to the Toyota GAZOO Racing MENA ESPORTS CUP finals.
